Sending Alerts

AlertOps can be integrated with various monitoring tools to receive alerts. Configure a Web API or Email integration to send alerts from your monitoring tools to your users

You can send alerts to one user, a team of users, or a scheduled on-call user. If you are sending an alert to a specific user, you do not need groups or schedules. If you are sending an alert to a team of users, a group with those users must be configured. Finally, if you are sending the alert to a scheduled on-call user, you will need to configure a group and an on-call schedule

Escalation Rules and Escalations

Escalation Rules define an alert's notification and escalation rules essential to AlertOps alert management. Every alert has a escalation rule.

After you create an integration and configure a group and/or schedule, you may choose a Escalation Rule. This will dictate how users get notified and how escalations occur for alerts.

The default user escalation sequence for any Group is as follows:

  1. Primary

  2. Secondary

  3. Manager

If the Group has no schedules. the sequence is set according to the order in the Group Member tab.

Responding to Alerts

A user must respond to an alert to stop its escalations. When a user receives an alert notification from AlertOps, they must take assignment. If the user does not take assignment of the alert, AlertOps will continue to notify the user, and then escalate to the next user until someone takes assignment.
